TWENTY SIX

I turn 26 today...

Went to church in the morning and then spent the afternoon at the zoo with Desmond :o)

I think the last time I went was about 10 years ago.

His mom seemed rather surprised that he was willing to accompany me to the zoo. I guess that means I'm special. I feel lucky that I've found someone who loves me so much and whose belief, character, temperament, personality, work, family, friends fit into my life so well - like a missing puzzle...

Saw a lot of monkeys (they seem to be the main feature of the zoo) - ugly and devilish looking ones, playful and over active ones (swinging around, entertaining themselves), fat and lazy ones (the orang utans really look like those coffeee shop ah peks with their pot-bellies and receding hairlines) , ones with raw and reddish butts...

Loved the Polar Bears (there are two) - the zoo is planning to send the baby one to another zoo with better facilities/climate once the mummy passes away (probably soon coz she's already 28 and polar bears dun usually live pass 25)

The white tigers, camels and especially the crocodiles, were very nuah... barely moved the whole time we were there. The white tigers just sat around licking their coats while the camels sat at opposite ends of their compound staring at each other. And the crocodiles might as well have been statues (floating in the water) - same goes for the baby crocodiles. Kinda freaky coz they all looked as if they were frozen in time...

Took some videos and photos. Then about a third of our way into the zoo, my camera battery went dead. Bummer - I haven't charged it since Bangkok.

Decided to skip the farm animals section.

We had Ben and Jerry's before we left - it's my birthday! I love the Oatmeal Cookie Crunch :o)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My dad wanted to celebrate my birthday for me so we went for seafood last night after mom finished work at Ubin Seafood (6th Avenue) - the Chilli Crab there is excellent!

Desmond went too. We are getting more and more attached to each other. The only days we don't meet are Tuesday and Friday when we have our own cell group meetings to attend.

My relationship with my dad is also improving. Can see that he is really putting in effort to make up for the years he was missing in action in my life. He cooked the traditional beehoon soup for me this morning and gave me an ang pow. I am a little touched coz he doesn't earn that much. Dinner last night also cost quite a fair bit and we took cab both ways.

I've also been nicer and more open to him lately, buying him stuff from Bangkok and occasionally listening to his incessant chatter.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Birthday Resolutions:

1) Work towards being as lean and fit as I possibly can and maintain that for the rest of my life
2) Build lasting friendships
3) Live a impactful life of influence
4) Grow closer to God (start with short QT)
5) Start saving money seriously
6) Go for more holidays (Bali, Bintan, Taiwan)
7) Less impulse buying

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Btw, I've decided to move (I think) - More about that when it's confirmed.
