A breakthrough?

Ha! After starting my public blog for 2 months, Desmond has finally decided to check it out. Actually he wanted me to give him my blog address but I made him sign up with friendster (I had to sign up for him in the end) and find out himself. Wonder what he thinks...

Ran for a full hour today at 8km/hr!

Ok I know you think it's a snail's pace but it's quite a breakthrough for me coz I've been struggling to run consistently for the last few months due to chest pains.

I blogged awhile back about experiencing sensitivity to light, heart palpitations and tightness in my chest during running. Because of that, I stopped running for over a month and was quite worried it might be serious. My client (a doctor) suggested that I go for an ECG but I decided to wait it out and fortunately, the discomfort went away (about a month back) and I started running again.

Because I stopped for so long, my stamina dropped a great deal and I could only manage a combination of running and walking during my training (or extreme slow jogging). Yesterday I started running on the treadmill for about 15 minutes and felt a pain in my chest again. But this time, it was more on the left side of my chest near my armpit. I felt the pain spreading (somewhat like roots) and eventually I had to slow to a walk. I picked up again when the pain dissipated but after running for another 5 or 10 minutes, the pain came back. Really quite worrying :P

Decided to run again today and see if I experience the chest pain again. Yup, I did. But because I was running so slowly, I forced myself to run through the pain and after several minutes the pain left. It came and left again 15 minutes into my run but at least I managed to keep going for an entire hour. I think it'll get better. I hope. Believe. Pray.

It will get better. And I will run in the Standard Chartered Full Marathon this December as planned. Gosh it's only 2 months away... lean and mean. lean and mean.

if you are intending to do a serious marathon, you might want to get suitable running shoes for your feet?
