Resolutions 2009

Have been thinking about my new year resolutions of late and decided to pen down some ideas. So, this might very well be just a draft. Or not. It depends on how good my ideas are...

1) Travel the World
2) Study Spanish with the help of my guide books and be able to at least communicate on the most basic level by the end of next year
3) Maintain weight between 53.5 and 55.5kg
4) Restrict my calorie intake to 1500 a day
5) Continue to exercise regularly - weights at least twice a week and cardio thrice
6) Take better care of my hair - don't know how yet but I want stronger, healthier, shinier and more hair! Maybe Beijing 101 can help...
7) Learn how to paint my own nails (and the key word is) "neatly"
8) Take better care of my hands/feet and legs
9) Go for motorbike lessons and get a license

Hrm... that's all I'm able to come up with for now.

Anyway, I know a lot of people who feel that resolutions are pointless coz most of us don't keep them but I totally believe in resolutions. Looking back at the ones I made last year, I would say I achieved at least half of them. And even though I did not achieve it all, I know I worked hard on most of my resolutions and consciously went about fulfilling them.

I was lean for quite a while. Managed to bring my weight down a great deal. Ate very healthily for several months. I took up the basic horseriding course, a rockclimbing course, and a Spanish course. Also read an average of 1 to 2 books a month. I did wakeboarding quite a fair bit until I decided the dirty water and over exposure to the sun was giving me pimples. I travelled lots. I'm dressing better. I take much much better care of my face. I learnt how to do proper make-up. I got whiter teeth. I am becoming a better person - more caring and generous (than before when I was totally not). I have expanded my social circle and I'm building friendships. Most importantly, I was happy much of the year.

I didn't manage to save the amount I wanted to but now that I am no longer thinking about marriage, I feel that enjoying myself is the priority. Of course, I do not intend to live lavishly (not that do) for the rest of my life. I know I need to save coz I will have to support myself (forever and ever) and save for rainy days. Okay, I will start to be more frugal in about 6 months. Also, now that there is no more relationship to speak of, my resolution to work on improving the relationship no longer applies.

Time out...
