Ostriches and Fireflies
Went on a day trip to Malaysia with my bf and his family and extended family on Saturday. Had to wake up at 5:30am and arrived back home only at about 11:30pm. Very long and tiring day but had lots of fun eating junk, buying junk, visiting an ostrich farm, a herb farm, a fruit farm and some fireflies along Johor River. I'll post photos next time. The tour included a so-so seafood lunch at some run down coffee shop and a chinese dinner at a restaurant at Kota Tinggi. We also got to visit Giant and Kota Tinggi Shopping Centre. Desmond didn't buy anything much except for some gum and snacks for the bus ride and a pair of levis jeans for $56. So cheap lor. Too bad I already have 5 pairs of jeans.
I almost bought a green and grey long sleeved Nike shirt for $25. I tried it on and it looked quite nice but we were rushing for time and I kinda decided that I didn't really need it. I spent $60 for the tour and $100 on 6 months supply of contact lenses, and a lot of snacks and toiletries.

The Saturday trip and weekends are exceptions but otherwise, my $10 daily food budget is working quite well.

Ate a lot of the junk I bought yesterday after coming back from work today and decided to go for a long jog. I ran about 10km but took 80 minutes. So slow :O(
I used to be able to do it in 60 minutes.
Need to start training seriously for the Standard Chartered Full Marathon on 3 December. I signed up about a month ago but was deliberating whether to drop out coz I was experiencing some chest pain while running and I was having heart palpitations. Kinda freaked me out a little.
One of my clients, a doctor, suggested that I go for an ECG but I decided to wait for another month to see if it got better. Have been training with weights twice a week, doing stepper and walking uphill the last month to make up for not running.
Read an article recently about running and some over-training / heart problem symptoms to watch out for and realised that I was suffering from a lot of the points mentioned - chest pains, heart palpitation, increased sensitivity to light. Anyway, I'm much better now. I think. As long as I run slowly, my heart rate stays at a managable speed and my chest only felt a little tight towards the end of my run.
Am sure it'll get better soon. Will be aiming to clock 10km three times a week for this two weeks and slowly increase it over the next three months.
Ok, got to go do my quite time now before I sleep. I start at 7am and end at 8:30pm tomorrow. Long day...
P.S. Oh, and I realised my new sandals are from the Papillo Birko-Flor Range under Sydney. I wore them today for the first time coz my old pair (the ranch red Papillo Siwa) is being cleaned :O)
